Today I went to my USPS appointment, to apply for the position of RCA (Rural Carrier Associate). If accepted, I would deliver US mail to hundreds of locals, using my own car, not their vehicles. This is a temporary probationary job function, and that means that I would deliver mail for the 'regular' postal carriers, when they have their days off, and when they go off on holiday. I would have NO insurance bennifits, but I would be able to become a regular postal guy after 4-5 years... Oh, and the pay isn't bad.

I went to the dentist today, and had one filling replaced, and two cavities worked on. A few days before my appointment I asked the dentist for a happy pill. He prescribed one valium for me, and went to the pharmacy and got a generic version of it. So I took the pill today, and here I am at
the dentist's office. His nurse asked if I wanted nitrous gas, and I said yes. A little bit late the nurse hooked me up with gas, and swabbed my mouth and gums, to deaden them. About 15 minutes later the dentist gave me five shots, to really numb my mouth, and make me drool. It must have been a little chilly, because I was shaking just a little.

The drilling began, and I could smell the smoke from the drill, and hear the high pitch whirl of the metal against tooth! If that weren't bad enough, they had XMAS music in the background, and it was the crappy country-western version. I wanted to complain, but I quickly remembered that the dentist had a drill in his hand! I thought it would be best if I didn't rock the boat, as it were... About TWO HOURS later I was finished. I was doped up, and walking like a penguin on uneven ground. I went to the front desk, wrote down a few notes, and a phone number, and the front desk lady called a cab for me. I got home, and took a nap. Another two hours later the dentist's office called me, to see if I got home ok. I mumbled, and they laughed.
