I went to the
USPS appointment, and there was only ONE other RCA candidate there with me. The other person was a woman in her mid 20's, who was already employeed as a temporary USPS driver. She wanted to stay where she was, and didn't want to transfer to the area that I was looking into, because it was too far for her to drive. The PostMaster who interviewed the two of us, was also a woman, and
she did NOT want an over-weight, middle aged, bearded male, as a one of her employees!!!!! Her hand shakes were best described as 'dead-fish' hand shakes, and she had several veiled threats against me. The most memorable was: "
After you complete training, you had damn well better be able to do your job!". This meant that if I made ANY mistake within the first year of my employment, she would see to it that I was OUT the door, and never permitted to have any form of employment from USPS. I decided to skip the Orientation Day at the USPS, and instead I sent a fax to her. It stated that I would be under-going a Gastric Bypass surgery, and that I wouldn't be able to continue the RCA process at this time. She must have had a fit! I didn't hear from her after that, and it's a darn good thing too!
